An anthropological experiment

For seven days twenty scholars participated in an anthropological experiment. We asked: Can comedy be used as a method for exploring how anthropological knowledge is made?

Based on a limited set of ethnographic materials selected by themselves, participants collaborated in four groups to produce a creative commons comprised of textual and material products.

On the eighth day, the material artifacts were assembled in four flight cases and shipped off to the Museum of Cultural History in Oslo.

A record of the experiment can be explored on this website (for the whole story start with ‘About‘, then go to ‘The Experiment’ before opening the Boxes)
